The Hawke’s Bay Montessori Education Trust is a small, motivated rōpū committed to Montessori education in Hawke’s Bay. Our objective is to foster and support the provision of quality Montessori education that will assist children to develop the foundational habits, attitudes, skills and ideas that are essential for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning.
The bulk of our efforts are focused on helping to facilitate primary school Montessori education at Port Ahuriri School. Our Trust is a non-profit charitable organisation that has an administrative role in the class in partnership with the School. The Trust contributes towards the teachers’ wages and their professional development. Additional involvement includes activities such as liaising with School management, supporting school events, fundraising, providing classroom resources and maintenance, and funding class activities and supplies.
We are affiliated with the national body, Montessori Aotearoa New Zealand (MANZ). This organisation offers support, guidance and assistance to the Trust, teachers, students and their families.
